What's the matter?

Wizards At Work

What makes a solid, liquid or gas different?

Throughout October, we're exploring different states of matter and using hands-on activities to discover the difference between solids, liquids, gases and polymers.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, investigate the three states of matter with some extraordinary experiments. On Wednesdays and Fridays, find out what chemists and wizards have in common with chemical reactions that fizz, bubble, give off heat and more.

Additional activities this month include:

October 7 & 8 - Worm Goo: Little scientists will create instant polymers with this wiggly, slippery, slimy worm goo.

October 14 & 15 - Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice: Oobleck is our favorite non-Newtonian substance. Use basic kitchen chemistry to mix up this pumpkin-spiced sensory delight.

October 21 & 22 - Slime Time: What happens when you mix two liquids, a touch of glitter and a whole lot of science? Help us create this ooey, gooey concoction.

October 22-27 - National Chemistry Week: We're celebrate National Chemistry Week by concocting experiments that are sure to blow you away.

October 28 & 29 - Spooky Science Lab: Calling all goblins and ghouls! Grab your goggles and gloves for these eerie experiments. We’re all a little mad here!
