What powers your world? Explore energy with Discovery Place KIDS this month

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

Tbox 138

Get charged up as Discovery Place KIDS-Rockingham explores circuits, forces, lightning, wind turbines and other sources of energy, with hands-on activities throughout the month of March.

Spark your imagination with electrifying Story Time tales, including Blackout by John Rocco, I Face the Wind by Vicki Cobb and The Pout-Pout Fish In The Big-Big Dark by Deborah Diesen.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, learn how to build a piano out of bananas and other creative circuit experiments with Makey Makeys. On Wednesdays and Fridays, join us for a hair raising experiment with our Van De Graaff generator as we learn how electricity works.

Additional activities this month include:

March 13: Squishy Circuits - Did you know play dough is a conductor? Check out these squishy circuits as we explore electricity and conductivity.

March 19: Fruit Power Batteries - Use chemical energy stored in fruit to power a small LED light.

March 26: Egg-cellent Egg Drop - Use your building skills to construct a protective case for your egg. Then find out if it can survive a second-story fall without breaking.

March 27: Plasma Ball - Join us for hands-on experiments with our plasma ball as little guests explore the science behind electrical energy.

March 26 - April 3: Nano Days - Explore nanoscale science by investigating properties and manipulating matter.

The Museum will be closed Sunday, March 27, for Easter but will be open on Monday, March 28, for even more hands-on fun!
