Make this September Super at Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville

Discovery Place Kids Huntersville

POW! ZAP! BAM! Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville is a super place to have fun with your kids and enjoy hands-on learning and play. This September, we will fly into the amazing world of superheroes. Journey with us as we explore the science behind some of our favorite heroes' (and villians') powers.

On weekdays at 11:15 a.m., stop by the Town Hall Stage for special story times and activities that will help unlock the superhero in everyone.

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays- How to Be a Superhero: Do you have what it takes to be a superhero? We'll read Superhero Instruction Manual by Kristy Dempsey to discover the super powers we already have! (additional program on Tuesdays at 1:45 p.m.)
  • Wednesdays & Fridays- Comic Book Mania: Comic books are how superheroes first become popular! We will learn how to sequence events and become artists as we explore comic book examples during this program.

All weekend long in September, discover your inner superhero at the Museum by looking at the ways regular people can be superheroes, too. Activities below start at the Town Hall Stage with a special story at 11:15 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Saturdays and at 1:45 p.m. on Sundays.

  • September 1 & 2 - Superhuman Strength: Having super strength helps our heroes save the day! This weekend, we will read Stuck by Oliver Jeffers and see the strength of the hero.
  • September 8 - Empowering Electricity: Many superheroes have the ability to control lightning and the weather. We will explore how superheroes can do it and come up with our own ways to be amazing electrical controllers.
  • September 9 - Grandparents' Day: Let's celebrate our grandparents and thank them for all they do! We'll read How to Babysit a Grandpa by Jean Reagan. Then join us in I CAN Create for help making a very special treat for loved ones.
  • September 15 & 16 - Flight: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a superhero! We will complete activities and challenges to see how humans can fly and read the book I am Amelia Earhart by Brad Meltzer.
  • September 29 & 30 - Save the City: Our city is in danger! Use your superhero abilities to defeat all the obstacles and save our town! We will first read Superbat by Matt Carr, then complete all the tasks required to save the city.
