Firefighter

Community helpers are all around us helping to make our world a better place. Throughout the month of October, join us at Discovery Place Kids to learn about some of our local heroes and try out their jobs.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, find out what a scientist is and conduct some exciting experiments. On Wednesdays and Fridays, discover how veterinarians keep our furry friends healthy and make a special animal-themed craft.

Additional activities this month include:

October 7 & 8 - Dentist: How many teeth do you have? Do you know how to keep them healthy? We'll read The Tooth Book by Dr. Seuss and enjoy some fun activities that will make you want to show your healthy smile.

October 14 & 15 - Police Officers: No two fingerprints are the same. We’re pretending to be police officers and gathering evidence to solve crimes.

October 21 & 22 - Farmers: How do your favorite foods get to the market? Hear Farmer Brown Goes Round and Round by Teri Sloat and stick around for a demonstration that explores where the food we eat comes from.

October 28 & 29 - Fire Fighters: It takes a special person to put out fires. We'll read Fire Fighters to the Rescue by Kersten Hamilton and then stop, drop and roll for some special training.

October 31 - Halloween: Come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume for safe Halloween fun and games. Explore spiders, learn about pumpkins and gather some goodies at stations set up around the Museum from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
