Celebrate all that our environment gives us and learn how to return the favor by keeping our planet clean. May’s programming theme is Our Planet Earth. Join us for special programs related to protecting the planet Earth and providing a safe place for plants, animals and people to live. All activities are included with Museum admission.

Our top kids’ activities for the month happen weekdays at the Lab. Stop by at 11:15 a.m. and 2:15p.m. for fun, themed, hands-on activities throughout May. On Tuesdays & Thursdays, little meteorologists can try forecasting as we learn about different types of precipitation, wind, clouds and the four seasons. On Wednesdays & Fridays, our caped crusader friend, Michael Recycle, is on a mission to make Earth clean. Discover the ins and outs of recycling and why it’s important for the health of our planet.

What’s Happening on the Weekends?

Weekends are filled with kids’ activities that are educational, inspirational and fun! All programs take place at 11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Saturdays and 2:15 p.m. on Sundays.

  • May 5 & 6- Let’s Grow! - Seeds come in all shapes and sizes, but they all share one secret: they grow into a new plant when the conditions are just right. Investigate the life cycle of a seed, and plant one to take home. Also, on May 5, we’ll celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a special dance party.
  • May 12 & 13- Day & Night Do you ever wonder what happens to the sun at night? Or how the stars in the sky got their names? Little astronomers will discover the wonders of the sky and make a constellation of their own. And we won’t forget Mom! On May 13, you can join us in the Studio to make a special card for your mother or for someone who’s like a mother to you.
  • May 19 & 20- Don’t Be A Litterbug! - Did you know you can reuse old materials that you thought were no longer useful? Join us as we turn scraps into beautiful pieces of art!
  • May 26 & 27- Can You Dig It? - Why are worms so important to the soil and our Earth? Observe some of our favorite creatures and discover the role they play in keeping nature in balance.
