Richmond County Schools, we have a challenge for you!

The three schools with the most participants in the 2016 Run for the Ribbons will earn money for their school.

Discovery Place KIDS and FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital Foundation are teaming up to issue this healthy challenge. The schools with the highest percentage of staff and student participation will win:

• $500 for First Place
• $250 for Second Place
• $100 for Third Place

Runners and walkers can participate in either the 5K or the Family Fun 1K. Fill out your school name in the line designated Team Name to qualify.

Following the race, winning schools will be awarded a check and will be publicized on the Richmond County Schools website as well as in local media outlets.

Run for the Ribbons is an annual 5K and Family Fun 1K that raises cancer awareness and promotes healthy lifestyle choices including fitness, healthy eating and education on cancer prevention.

Proceeds from the race will equally support Discovery Place KIDS and the FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital CARE Fund to support the health needs in the community including assistance with patient transportation, medical equipment and supplies, inspiring exercise and healthy nutrition to decrease childhood obesity rates in Richmond County and providing education and screening to help reduce the morbidity rates in Richmond County from heart disease and lung cancer.
