Mixing chemistry and Halloween fun for spooktacular October at Discovery Place Kids

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

October will be spooktacular at Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham as we celebrate not only Halloween but also cool chemistry and matter.

What’s a solid? A liquid? A gas? Do your little scientists know about non-Newtonian substances? Join us this month in our Spooky Science Lab, as we explore chemistry through solids, liquids, gases and polymers.

We’re calling all mad scientists to come visit the Museum as we create Chemistry Concoctions each day that are sure to amaze. Grab your goggles and gloves and join us at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. every day for special shows and activities highlighting chemistry. These eerie experiments will range from making worm goo to working with chemistry building blocks. If you’re lucky, you’ll be there for the super cool “Bubble, Bubble Toil & Trouble.”

On October 19, from 10 a.m. to noon, check out Wizards at Work to see how wizards and chemists are alike. Wizard potions are just like chemical reactions. They can fizz, bubble, release heat and some even get cool. Bring little wizards by to “cook up” some chemistry in our Spooky Science Lab.

And on Halloween, we’re taking part in Rockingham’s Downtown Spooktacular beginning at 4 p.m. Be sure to stop by the Museum for treats as we celebrate with a community-wide trick-or-treating party.

You never know what you’ll find yourself getting into because we’re all a little mad here!
