Maker Month

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

Arts And Crafts

March is for making!

Little makers will tinker, design and create with us during this hands-on month of learning. We’ll be using our engineering and problem solving skills as we construct mazes, buildings and more.

Did you know that play dough is a conductor of electricity? On Tuesdays and Thursdays, explore electricity and conductivity with Squishy Circuits.

Are your construction skills better than the Three Little Pigs? On Wednesdays and Fridays, see if you can build a house that can withstand some huffing and puffing.

Additional activities this month include:

March 10 & 11 - Goldilocks Needs a Nap: Goldilocks is exhausted after her run in with The Three Bears. She needs to rest before her next adventure! Can you help her build a bed that feels just right?

March 14 - Pi Day: 3.14 is a special number that helps us understand circles. Little mathematicians will celebrate the power of pi!

March 17 - St. Patrick’s Day: It’s the luck of the Irish! Celebrate with us throughout the day as we create blarney crafts for St. Patrick’s Day.

March 17 & 18 - Float Your Boat: Can you build a boat that will float and hold weight? Create a boat out of recycled materials and test it out at the Water Table.

March 24 & 25 - Catapult Challenge: A catapult is a simple machine that has been around for centuries. Little engineers will build their very own catapult to hurl different objects across the room. Ready ... aim ... fire!

March 31 - Egg-cellent Egg Drop: It’s time for our Annual Egg Drop! Families will use their building skills to construct a protective case for their egg and see if it can survive a second-story fall without breaking.

March 31 - Early Bird Deadline for Run for the Ribbons: Don't forget to sign up for our annual 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run! Registration fees increase on April 1.

The Museum will be closed Sunday, April 1, for Easter.
