Jump into January with a Winter Wonderland

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

From winter animals to winter science, Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham is exploring all the season has to offer this month. Discover the polar regions and learn how animals protect themselves from the ice and cold as the Museum jumps into January.

Special activities are scheduled throughout January to celebrate the winter. On weekdays at 11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., join us for themed events including:

Winter Wilderness (on Tuesdays and Thursdays): Life on the planet’s polar regions can be difficult, but many animals have evolved to survive in the deep cold. Guests will investigate some of our favorite polar animals from these chilly climates.

The Mitten (on Wednesdays and Fridays): Cuddle up for one of our favorite stories, The Mitten. We’ll examine various animal furs and learn about hibernation as we reenact this special story.

On the weekends, meet us in the Winter Science Lab as we experiment with snow, ice and states of matter. There’s no need to bundle up to experience this cold winter fun, which takes place at 11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Saturdays and on 2:15 p.m. on Sundays.

Plus, don’t miss Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham’s special celebration on January 21 at 1 p.m. to honor Martin Luther King Jr.
