I CAN Be Healthy

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

Lets Get Physical

This month, we are taking care of our bodies and learning how to stay healthy.

With fun activities throughout April, little guests will learn how to choose healthy foods, try new exercises and discover some of the body’s most important organs.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, discover the role the heart plays in our bodies and what makes them tick. On Wednesdays and Fridays, get your hearts pumping and bodies moving as we build strong muscles and bones.

Additional activities this month include:

April 8: Run for the Ribbons - Run for the Ribbons is a family celebration that raises awareness and promotes healthy lifestyle choices including fitness, healthy eating and education. Join us for our 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Run to be active together. All proceeds benefit the FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital Foundation and Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham.

April 9: Let's Get Physical - When you exercise, you’re helping build strong muscles and bones in your body. Get your hearts pumping and bodies moving!

April 15: Egg-cellent Egg Drop - Use your building skills to construct a protective case for an egg and see if it can survive a second-story fall without breaking.

April 22 & 23: Nuts About Nutrition - Learn about healthy eating habits and what too much sugar can do to our bodies.

April 22: Earth Day - Help plant vegetables and flowers as we celebrate Earth Day.

April 29: Arbor Day - Celebrate trees and all they bring us in honor of Arbor Day.

April 29 & 30: Just Breathe - Investigate the importance of keeping your lungs healthy with a hands-on demonstration.
