Letters To Santa

We’re creating holiday cheer this month! Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and New Year’s Eve make December a month to celebrate. Join us as we make decorations, create snow and explore different cultures.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we'll be writing Letters to Santa that you can drop in our mailbox for free delivery to the North Pole. On Wednesdays and Fridays, you'll be singing Oh Christmas Tree as we learn about the evolution of Christmas trees and construct one of our own using some unusual building materials.

In our daily Puppet Show, you're invited to Sammy Squirrel's Holiday Party. Join the festivities as we find out what Sammy's animal friends are up to when the temperature drops.

Additional activities this month include:

December 10 - Let It Snow: No snow in sight? Don’t worry, all we need is a chemical reaction! Little guests will read a special story and use science to concoct our very own snow.

December 17 & 18 - Hanukkah: Did you know Hanukkah is called the Festival of Lights? Join us to learn about the traditions of this holiday.

December 23 - Christmas: celebrate the joy of the season with you with an ornament erupting good time.

December 26 - Kwanzaa: Celebrate the first day of Kwanzaa by joining us for a special story time.

December 27 & 29 - New Year's Resolutions: Make your New Year’s resolution with us before the new year starts.

December 31 - New Year's at Noon: Three, two, one…Happy New Year! Join us for a Discovery Place Kids celebration as we say farewell to 2016 and blast off into 2017.

Please note: The Museum will be closed December 24 & 25 but will be open Monday, December 28, for even more hands-on fun!
