February is full of reasons to celebrate

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

Celebrating Kids 800X600

It’s a month full of celebrations at Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham and you’re invited to take part in all the fun!

The celebrating gets started on Saturday, February 2, as we host special activities in conjunction with Groundhog Day. Will we have six more weeks of winter or is warm weather right around the corner? Discovery Place’s beloved groundhog Queen Charlotte (who lives at Discovery Place Nature in Charlotte) will be deciding earlier in the day. We’ll take a deeper look at her decision and the holiday.

On Tuesday, February 5, come to the Museum to ring in the Chinese New Year. Celebrate the Year of the Pig with us as we create paper lanterns and learn about the Chinese New Year.

On Valentine’s Day (Thursday, February 14), be sure to stop by to create a beautiful valentine for someone special in our I CAN Create studio.

Round out all the fun with our We Can Party birthday bash on Saturday, February 23 as we celebrate the Museum’s sixth birthday. It’s free admission to the Museum all day, with lots of exciting activities and surprises planned to help commemorate this happy occasion. You don’t want to miss this special day!

More to celebrate

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, stop by the Lab for “I’m Flossin’,” our program celebrating smiles as little guests learn about the responsibilities and importance of keeping their teeth clean.

Celebrate Black History Month on Wednesdays and Fridays, focusing on learning about famous black inventors and their creations.

Plus, celebrate American Heart Month with us every weekend in February through our special Pump it Up program where we will explore games from all over the world to get our bodies moving and hearts healthy.
