Exploring Energy

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

Newtons Cradle

The power to make things happen is what we call energy. Get charged up at Discovery Place Kids this month as we explore the energy all around us.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, find out about electrical energy with a hair-raising Van De Graaff generator experiment. On Wednesdays and Fridays, learn about potential energy as we discover the forces at work in a Newton's Cradle and other familiar objects.

Additional activities this month include:

March 11 & 12: Squishy Circuits - Did you know that play dough is a conductor? Check out these squishy circuits as we explore electricity and conductivity.

March 17: St. Patrick's Day - It’s the luck of the Irish! Celebrate with us throughout the day as we create blarney crafts for St. Patrick’s Day!

March 18 & 19: Here Comes the Sun - The sun has produced radiant energy that travels through space to the Earth for billions of years. Learn about solar energy and how we use it today.

March 25 & 26: Light It Up - You probably use batteries to power a number of gadgets, but did you know you can create a battery using chemical energy stored in fruit? Join us this weekend to create a circuit using fruit to power an LED light.
