Bugs

Discovery Place Kids Rockingham

Insect Yoga

Crawl, fly or hop on over to Discovery Place Kids this month as we learn about bugs!

From insects and arachnids to butterflies and bees, we are finding out why these creatures are so important. Join us for a swarm of bug-related stories, songs, art and activities.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, stretch your body and move like the bugs with creepy, crawly Insect Yoga. On Wednesdays and Fridays, turn yourself into a Scarab beetle and compete against one other in a dung-ball rolling race.

Additional activities this month include:

July 4: Fourth of July - Join us on Independence Day for a special demonstration on the FUNdamentals of fireworks.

July 8 & 9: Mighty Ants - Ants have been able to survive on Earth for over 100 million years! Little entomologists will learn how ants hear, taste, touch and smell.

July 15 & 16: Insect Art - Create your very own colorful piece of art with an insect in mind.

July 22 & 23: A Meal of Mealworms - Drop in for a tasty insect that is sure to satisfy your taste buds. Prizes will be given to the daring bug eaters!

July 29 & 30: Busy Bees - Bees are the only insects that make food we eat. They also are wonderful pollinators. Buzz by the Museum this weekend and learn about the life of our bee friends.
