What's the buzz all about? Discovery Place KIDS explore bugs this month

Discovery Place Kids Huntersville

Crawl, fly or hop on over to Discovery Place KIDS this month as we learn all about bugs!

From insects and arachnids to butterflies and bees, we are finding out why these creatures are so important through a variety of activities.

Bug out over Story Time tales, including The Very Greedy Bee by Steve Smallman, Anansi the Spider by Gerald McDermott and The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, celebrate the stories and rhymes of Dr. Seuss, who would have been 112 years old this year. On Wednesdays and Fridays, explore activities that help us move from winter to spring.

Additional activities this month include:

March 12: Amazing Arachnids - Meet our very own tarantula, Scarlet O’Hairy, as we learn about what makes our spider friends so special.

March 19: The Very Hungry Caterpillar - Explore the life cycle of the caterpillar with exciting crafts and meet some wiggly friends.

March 26: Egg-cellent Egg Drop - Construct a protective case for an egg and see if it can survive a fall from the Town Hall clock without breaking.

March 28: Mighty Ants - Learn how ants hear, taste, touch and smell.

The Museum will be closed Sunday, March 27, for Easter but will be open on Monday, March 28, for even more hands-on fun!
