Our Planet Earth

Discovery Place Kids Huntersville

Earthworms

This month, we're celebrating all that our planet gives us.

Join us throughout April for a variety of programs that demonstrate what makes earth so special. We also will learn how to protect our environment and keep our planet clean.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, help us celebrate spring with special egg activities. On Wednesdays and Fridays, explore Mother Nature with a unique expedition through story and art.

Additional activities this month include:

April 8 & 9: Earthworms - Explore why composting is helpful to the environment and how earthworms help break down compost.

April 15: Egg-cellent Egg Drop - As part of the North Carolina Science Festival, families will use their engineering skills to construct a protective case for their egg and see if it can survive a fall from the Town Hall Clock Tower without breaking.

April 22 & 23: Michael Recycle - Why is it important to keep our earth clean? Join us to learn the story of Michael Recycle by Ellie Bethel and participate in recycling activities.

April 22: We Dig Earth Day - As part of the North Carolina Science Festival, we’ll be digging in the dirt and planting some seeds to kick off the new growing season.

April 25 - 28: Week of the Young Child - Join us for a national celebration of early learning, young children, their teachers and families. Each day this week, we will have special programming in the Museum.

April 28: Arbor Day - Celebrate Arbor Day with a special story, activities and crafts.

April 29 & 30: Don't Be a Litterbug - Our green-caped crusader Michael Recycle has a tough challenge. Hear about during a special story time and then make your own litterbug to take home.

Please note: The Museum will be open Monday, April 10, for even more hands-on fun!
