Coral

This month at Discovery Place Kids, we’re learning all about ocean creatures and how we can help keep their environment safe for them.

Dive into a variety of stories, crafts and fun activities as we learn about how to keep our oceans healthy for all the marine species that live in it.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, build up a coral reef and learn about all the different species of coral through a collaborative art project. On Wednesdays and Fridays, find out what you can do to save our oceans as we explore sustainability, recycling and other ways to keep our oceans clean.

Additional activities this month include:

July 4: Independence Day - Celebrate our great nation with crafts and activities throughout the Museum.

July 8 & 9: Be an Oceanographer - What does it take to be an oceanographer? Discover what tools they use and try on some of their equipment.

July 15: House for a Hermit Crab - Come read House for a Hermit Crab by Eric Carle with us as we learn about ocean animals and make some art to take home.

July 16: National Ice Cream Day - We’ll be freezing up some fun as we make ice cream in a scientific way.

July 22 & 23: Sink/Float - Which is denser, salt water or fresh? We will be making hypotheses and experimenting with different objects to see what sinks and what floats.

July 29 & 30: Ocean Sensory - Join us to feel different sands and make a splash! This activity is best for our littlest guests.
