I CAN Be Healthy

Discovery Place Kids Huntersville

This month, we are taking care of our bodies and learning how to stay healthy.

Through stories, games, art and craft projects, little guests will learn how to choose healthy foods, move around with exercises and care for their teeth.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, play with your food as we explore ways to use fruits and vegetables to create Healthy Art. On Wednesdays and Fridays, gear up for the Winter Olympics as we learn about different sports and this year's host country of Korea.

Additional winter activities for kids include:

February 3 & 4 - Germology: Discover how germs make us sick and what it takes to keep them away. Little scientists will learn proper hand-washing techniques and other healthy habits.

February 10 & 11 - My Healthy Smile: How many teeth do you have? Do you know how to keep them healthy? Join us for the story The Tooth Book by Dr. Seuss and then join in some fun activities that will make you want to brush your teeth.

February 13 - Mardi Gras: Make masks and string beads as we celebrate Fat Tuesday.

February 14 - Valentine’s Day: Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the story The Love Monster by Rachel Bright. Afterward, Creative Play Professionals will help the children make special gifts for loved ones.

February 16 - Chinese New Year: We're celebrating the Year of the Dog with a special story time and some fun activities.

February 17 & 18 - Exercise: Join us for story time and some fun exercises that are sure to get your blood pumping.

February 19 - Presidents’ Day: The Museum will be open on this special Monday as we celebrate the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Hear the story Presidents’ Day by Anne Rockwell and make some patriotic crafts.

February 24 & 25 - Healthy Food: Let’s play with food! We’re reading the story Gregory the Terrible Eater by Mitchell Sharmat and making a fun, healthy snack.
