Astronaut

What does it take to travel into space?

This month, we’ll be exploring our solar system and learning about how astronauts get ready for their journey.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, explore the special qualities of the planets in our solar system through fun crafts and activities. On Wednesdays and Fridays, find out what it takes to become an astronaut through story time and activities designed to get you ready for your journey to space.

Additional activities this month include:

May 6 & 7 - Rockets: 3...2...1...blast off! Explore the science behind sending rockets into the air.

May 7 - Hello Huntersville: Join our Creative Play Professionals in front of the Museum from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. for fun science activities as part of Hello Huntersville, the Town of Huntersville's annual arts and music festival.

May 13 & 14 - Mother’s Day: Are You My Mother?, a fun book by P.D. Eastman, will kick off our celebration of all our wonderful mothers. Join us after the story to make a one-of-a-kind gift for your special mom or someone who is like a mother to you.

May 20 & 21 - Our Moon: What do you know about the moon? We’ll read Kitten’s First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes and then participate in special activities that will help us understand the moon.

May 27 & 28 - Astronaut Training: Meet us for your special astronaut training! We’ll start by reading the Astronaut Handbook by Meghan McCarthy and then we’ll learn what it takes to travel into outer space.

May 29 - Memorial Day: We’re open on this special Monday to help remember all those who worked to make the United States of America the home we love.
