Frogs and birds and pigs, oh my! Animal activities for kids throughout May

Discovery Place Kids Huntersville

Tbox 154

Hop like a frog and fly like a bird as we spend this month learning about animals! We'll explore endangered animals and pets, as well as farm and service animals, throughout the month of May.

Plus, the Museum will be open on one special Monday, May 30, as we honor Memorial Day.

Enjoy animal-friendly Story Time tales, including Hiccupotamus by Aaron Zenz, How Do You Hug a Porcupine? by Laurie Isop and Move by Steve Jenkins & Robin Page.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, discover the differences between frogs and toads. On Wednesdays and Fridays, learn about our fine feathered friends and make a bird feeder to take home.

Additional activities this month include:

May 8: Are You My Mother? - This fun book by P.D. Eastman will kick off our celebration of all our wonderful mothers.

May 14: Endangered Animals - Learn about the endangered animals in our world and discuss ways to help them get off the endangered species list.

May 21: Service Animals - Meet Kari from Lake Pointe Equestrian Center and a Shetland pony that serves as a therapy animal for autistic children as we highlight animals who help humans this weekend.

May 29: Eat Like an Animal - There are so many animals and they eat in so many ways! Test your tongue and see if you can eat like an animal.
