Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville is a magical place to have fun with your kids and enjoy hands-on learning and play. This October, grab your broomsticks and come fly with us as we explore the whimsical world of wizards!

On weekdays at 11:15 a.m., stop by the Town Hall Stage for special story times and activities that will help unlock the superhero in everyone.

All weekend long in October, discover the magic around you at the Museum. Activities below start at the Town Hall Stage with a special story at 11:15 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Saturdays and at 1:45 p.m. on Sundays.

  • October 6 & 7 - Quidditch: Calling all Quidditch players! Come with your broomsticks and bring your best sportsmanship as we learn to play this amazing game on the grassy area in front of the Town Hall Stage.
  • October 13 & 14 - Wands: The wand chooses the wizard. This weekend we will read Which Way to Witch School? by Scott Santoro at the Town Hall Stage. Then we will make our way over to I CAN Create to find our own wand and learn a magic spell.
  • October 20 & 21 - Potions: Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn and caldron bubble! We will become Potion Masters this weekend by first gathering at the Town Hall Stage to read Possum Magic then create our own potions and recipes in I CAN Create.

  • October 26 & 27 – Magical Creatures: An owl? A cat? Or even a dragon? Which magical creature do you want as a pet? We’ll learn about these and some other magical creatures with the book Julia’s House for Lost Creatures then find out perfect pet in I CAN Create.

Looking for spooky daytime activities for October 31? Come dressed in your costume for some safe Halloween fun and games. We will have stations set up around the Museum at from 11:00 a.m. to noon for you to explore spiders, learn about pumpkins and gather some goodies.
