Put your creativity to the test this month as Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville celebrates all things art at the Museum. Throughout February, we will explore various artistic mediums, learn about artists and engage in other cultures.

The month-long celebration of art kicks off on Sunday, February 3, with programming focused on the three-dimensional art of sculpting. During the Sculptures event, guests will mold, measure and create their sculptures while learning about famous examples and where they came from.

From there, guests are invited to find Art in Nature on both Saturday, February 9, and Sunday, February 10. Keeping in mind that art is all around us, we will use nature and things found in nature as inspiration for artwork. It’s sure to be a wild ride!

A Plethora of Paint, on Saturday, February 16, and Sunday, February 17, gives you the opportunity to dip your brushes into this medium as we bring our creativity to life.

And on Saturday, February 23, and Sunday, February 24, we will explore Rangoli Art, a decorative art from India. These colorful creations are said to bring good luck. Join us in making a collaborative Rangoli art project while learning more about India.

Weekday activities also focus on art

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can explore the art of ancient times and learn, through that art, more about the individuals who lived during that time. Ancient Art gives us a unique opportunity to go back in time.

Astounding Artists will be the focus of programming on Wednesdays and Fridays as we look at some of the most famous artists around and try to understand more about their works. Then, we’ll create our very own pieces in that style.
