Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year's Eve make December a month to celebrate!

Join us throughout the month as we discover how different cultures celebrate the holidays. We'll even be open on two special Mondays, December 21 and December 28, for even more hands-on fun!

Enjoy festive Story Time tales, including The Hanukkah Hop! by Erica Silverman, How Santa Got His Job by Stephen Krensky and My First Kwanzaa by Karen Katz.

Little learners can celebrate the season and learn about one of our favorite Arctic animals with two new daily programs. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, write a letter to Santa and drop in our mailbox for deliver to the North Pole. On Wednesdays and Fridays, learn how to fish like a penguin and make penguin-inspired art.

Additional activities this month include:

  • December 12: Hanukkah - Learn all about the traditions of Hanukkah and create a special craft to take home.
  • December 20: The Polar Express - All aboard! The Polar Express will be leaving the station this weekend. Come dressed in your warm pajamas and travel with us to the North Pole.
  • December 23: Christmas - Celebrate the joy of the season with your Discovery Place KIDS family.
  • December 26: Kwanzaa - Learn about the celebrations of Kwanzaa. Participate in hands-on activities to learn about the traditions of children in various cultures.
  • December 31: New Year’s at Noon - Three, two, one…Happy New Year! Come make a noise maker and join us for a balloon drop at noon to help us ring in the New Year.

The Museum will be closed December 24 - 25.
