Dig up fun as we explore fossils and dinosaurs
Discovery Place Kids Huntersville
How long was the T-Rex? How small was the Ankylosaur? What's the difference between a herbivore, a carnivore and an omnivore?
We're digging up "epoch" fun this month as we explore fossils and dinosaurs with a variety of hands-on activities.
Plus, the Museum will be open on one special Monday, February 15, for even more hands-on fun as we celebrate President's Day.
Gather for dino-mite Story Time tales, including When Dinosaurs Came with Everything by Elise Broach, Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedman & Ben Cort and Chick-O-Saurus Rex by Lenore & Daniel Jennewein.
Travel back to a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth and discover their special characteristics in an entertaining and educational daily Puppet Show, Pangea's Got Talent.
Little learners can dig for fossils and discover what paleontologists do with two new daily programs. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, get some hands-on training in the field of paleontology. On Wednesdays and Fridays, dig for dinosaur bones and see if you can identify various dinosaur skeletons.
Additional activities this month include:
- February 14: Valentine's Day - Celebrate Valentine's Day with a special Story Time. Creative Play Professionals will be on hand to help children make special gifts for loved ones.
- February 20: Hatching Dinosaur Eggs - Find some dinosaur eggs and try to help them hatch.
- February 28: How Short? How Long? - Explore the lengths of various dinosaurs and create your own dinosaur art to take home.
