Community Helpers

Discovery Place Kids Huntersville

Firefighter

From fire fighters and police officers to farmers and scientists, community helpers are all around us helping to make our world a better place.

This month, join us for a variety of hands-on learning opportunities as we get to know some of our local heroes and try out their jobs.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, learn about Construction Workers as we read about architects, study blue prints and build something special. On Wednesdays and Fridays, study fingerprints and gather evidence as we explore the role of Police Officers.

Additional activities this month include:

October 8 & 9: Veterinarian - Do you have what it takes to keep our furry friends healthy?

October 15 & 16: Fire Fighters - It takes a special person to put out fires. Stop, drop and roll for some special training.

October 22: Cornelius Youth Orchestra - Enjoy a special free performance from these talented young musicians on the front lawn.

October 22: Happy Birthday Discovery Place Kids - Help us celebrate our sixth birthday and the grand opening of our newly renovated Town Market! We’ll have fun activities in the market and throughout the Museum all day long.

October 22 & 23: Farmers - How do your favorite foods get to the market? Explore where all the food we eat comes from.

October 29 & 30: Scientist - Are you a scientist? If you ask questions and look for the answers, you are! Join us to conduct some exciting experiments.

October 30: Halloween - We’re celebrating Halloween a day early! Come dressed in your costume for an afternoon of safe trick-or-treating and games.
