Discovery Place Kids offers field trip opportunities for groups of children from Pre K through Grade 2. Programs are designed to enhance classroom education and provides students the opportunity to develop fine and large motor skills, expand their imaginations and improve social skills.

Field Trip pricing is reserved for state-certified Pre-K thru Grade 12 schools with a minimum of 15 students. To receive Field Trip discounts, reservations must be made two weeks in advance of the anticipated visit date and paid in full prior to your visit date. Plus any applicable sales and use taxes. *Due to space limitations, extra chaperones may not be able to attend class programs.


Chaperones

One adult chaperone is required for every 5 students and admitted to the Museum for free; fees are charged for additional chaperones. Additional chaperones will be charged the fees in the chart above. To ensure the safety of all students, chaperones must stay with their group at all times.

Lunch Options

While there are no dining facilities at the Museum, covered picnic shelters are available at nearby North Mecklenburg Park or Huntersville Athletic Park. Reservations are recommended. Please call Huntersville Parks & Recreation at 704.766.2220 to check availability or reserve a shelter.

  • Registration and Payments

    Register by phone at 704.396.4352 x300 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.

    Payment is required 3 weeks prior to program or visit date.

    American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA are accepted. A check with your PO number written in the memo section is also accepted.

  • Cancellation and Refund Policy

    Cancellation notice of three weeks is required for a full refund. Cancellations with less than three weeks’ notice are non-refundable but may be rescheduled for a visit within a 12-month period. There is no fee for rescheduling as long as the class or visit is rescheduled within one week of the cancellation date and the visit is completed within the 12 months of the originally scheduled date. Changes to the number of attendees must be made three days prior to the program or visit to receive a refund. No refunds will be issued the day of the visit, and no refunds will be issued for amounts of $10.00 or less.

  • Parking

    Buses should enter from the Old Statesville Road entrance and pull into the loading zone area adjacent to the building to unload students. Buses can park, for free, at North Mecklenburg Park or Veterans Park (any lot, any space and only a 5-minute drive from the Museum).

    Cars and other standard-size vehicles can park, for free, in the Huntersville Parking Deck (located directly behind the Museum, also accessible from either Gilead Rd. or Old Statesville Rd.)

  • Directions for Buses

    Buses should enter via Old Statesville Rd and unload students by the Learning Garden. After your field trip, buses will pick up students at the rear of the Museum and exit via Gilead Rd. Parking is unavailable on-site in our parking deck. However, buses can park for free at Veterans Park or North Mecklenburg Park.
